Hi all
I installed yahoo messenger the day before yesterday, or rather the night before yesterday in response to an invitation i got from here. I hesitated to do it because one thing i had to install jaws 7 so it would be more accessible. However, according to my contact list, it says i have ppl still on my list when i uninstalled it from my old computer a while back. I'm sure those people don't have me on their contact list anymore. Anyway, I find that jaws won't arrow up and down the list automatically, but i think pressing alt up arrow to do a say line will read the contacts name. I thought i was downloading yahoo 6.0, but after i installed it, i found out i had version 7.5. I am using jaws 7.0 now and windows xp. Is there something i can do to make jaws read the contacts names when i arrow down? Perhaps yahoo messenger 7 is not accessible as 6? So far i don't seem to find it anymore accessible than the version i had a while back under older versions of jaws and windows 98. I think my computer is a bit slower shutting down since installing it, but not sure, since that annoying windows log on screen pops up just as i'm shuttting down and that tends to slow the shut down process a bit, but i cant find where to get rid of it. There is an article in pc world on doing it, but it told how to do it if you were in category view, and i set windows to the classic view, so i can't find it. Thhhanks, wonderwoman
hi WW, if you are using jaws 7, it should working fine with yahoo messenger 7. but however, if you are using jaws 6, it do have screep for yahoo 7. about the contacts list, you can try to heet on control F, there's go to your contacts who is currently online, and ones again control F its shown all the contacts you have on your list. usually YM will record all your contacts since you've added them no matter on what location or when. but however, it might have some sircumstances happen. if need more help, please PM me. cheers, season
Hi Wonderwoman! I use Jaws 4 point 2 and the Yahoo Instant Messenger with voice! I have trouble reading my contact info too! To remove a contact I f find the users name then I press the left mouse button and the person is removed! I don't know if that is the right way to remove a person! I just messed around with it! To read it I root the Jaws cursor to pc
thanks to the both of you, i will try what season suggests and see if control f will bring up the list. I was surprised those ppl were still there, because when i open windows messenger, I had noone on my contact list, so i finally assumed the reason was because this is a new computer and a new os, so it didn't know who i had on my old computer, but yahoo messenger seems to remember the contacts i had on an older version years ago.

hi ww, i would try putting in yur msn address in windows messenger it will show your contacts even since it is a bran dnew pc.
i had to re install everything since ihad to re format mine and when i installed it again i just put in my email address and it works so try that .

I think i had to do that when i first chose sign up using or sign in using. I chose my netpasport account and typed my msn messenger address, which is my email address, but at first i didn't have any contacts, but 2 added me over agin, so i added them. Now as for yahoo messenger,i read the jaws help topics and it said if menus wasn't reading right press alt m tnen k, and to change the skins setting to classic skin, i did that, and now myu list is reading fine, only thing is, they are all listed as offline because they either don't have yahoo mesenger anymore, or they took me off their list because i uninstalled it from my old computer. The one who sent me the invitation isn't nline either. but it was a few weeks or so since i downloaded it, because i finally got up the courage to install jaws 7, and i wasn't sure if i'd talked to this person before, maybe once on aim a long time ago, but i scanned it with avg, and clicked on the link and it led me to yaoo messenger. So now I have an empty contact list, ha. Anyway, i'm not sure jaws 7 is refreshing right, because i missed nikos quicknote, so i'm going to turn quicknotes, public ones on long enough to test and se if it refreshes quicknotes, see what's going on then probably turn public notes back off again.

oh yes, you must change everything to clasic skin. for moden skin, jaws can't handle at all cause its come with graphics.
Someone mentioned skripts for JFW 6 and yahoo 7 exist but are there any for JFW 5.10 around? Thanks in advance for any help

yahoo messengers works fine. You just need to learn the shoirt cut keys.
